Owner/Client: International Developer (Confidential)
As the world moves rapidly towards urbanization, the need for healthy, safe, and sustainable cities is accelerating. Ascent’s urban designers have been active in the western US and Asia, providing solutions based on the market, the the government or owner’s aspirations, and the local and regional contexts.
A Concept Master Plan and Investor Brochure were developed to transform the former Pekeliling Flats social housing site in Kuala Lumpur into an integrated, vibrant mixed-use development and riverfront tourist destination. Known as the KL River Bend, the 23 ha (57.5 acre) site spans both sides of the Gombak River and is conveniently adjacent to the LRT Ampang Line with the Titiwangsa Station located on the site and the Sentul station within walking distance just to the north. In the future, an MRT stop is proposed on the eastern end of the site, making the KL River Bend one of the most transit-served communities in the greater Klang Valley.
Taking advantage of the cleaning and beautification of the Gombak River through the Government’s “River of Life” revitalization initiative, along with the transit stations and improvements, the development is set to become a major urban residential community, workplace, and cultural, and shopping destination for northern Kuala Lumpur.
The KL River Bend will offer a comprehensive range of amenities and civic attractions, including a contemporary arts centre, convention facilities, themed attractions, retail, dining, hotel, serviced apartments and family-oriented public spaces to stimulate year-round and all-week usage. At full build-out, several blocks of mixed-use buildings will be created within a dense, high-rise urban development.
